And hey, I don't need comedians to be unimpeachable academics, but I know for a fact there are folks out there who only know what a Punic War is because of that channel. If all it is is a funny voice filter step in a game of telephone, that's not... helpful.

And I don't mean in the sense of "oh, this obviously simplified comedy video covers the same historical period and so it's very similar," I mean if you scrub out the jokes, it's ONLY the documentary under there. Sometimes very nearly verbatim.

It feels a bit like a semiotics problem. Like yeah, when you zoom in sufficiently, can anyone really say that the true totality of one word's meaning to one person has ever been conveyed to another? Can you really say that a group shares even one complete intention?
