In classic fashion the Iranian regime also tries to paint the protestors as the extended arm of “foreign intelligence services and their handlers.” - again something we see echoed by authoritarian regimes facing opposition around the world in their attempts at delegitimizing dissent.

It is of course also worth pondering who is deemed "criminal" and not by the general US population, and why it took the killing of a white woman, a mother who's been a citizen since birth to trigger protests against a government that stats shows murders members of its population every day.

Either way, as people draw comparisons between the US and Iran at the moment I feel like the acceptance of the states divine power to take lives is worth pondering. It's worth asking why that acceptance is so high in the US and what it has done to the population.
