My final verdict on the NES Final Fantasies, having finished them:
-FF2 is the best. Great story with fun experimental gameplay.
-FF1 next. OG starter with decent gameplay.
-FF3 was the worst. The start of the job system couldn’t save the meh story, unbalanced classes, and terrible grindy endgame.

I’m playing Final Fantasy 2 Pixel Remaster and my take is this leveling system rules actually. Getting better at the skills you use makes the fun highly customizable and reminds me of stuff like The Elder Scrolls games.
