As much as I don't like Clancy's politics and have severe reservations on the continued books written by other people who retcon the hell out of stuff, HFRO shows how well he captured the military as it is/was and how it believes itself to be.

Baldwin brings a much clearer "I'm a smart person who doesn't want to be here fucking around with guns" vibe, while Ford is like cool street smart and sometimes scared but more instinctive into the action. Both are aspects of the character on the page, but Baldwin looks like I imagine.
