the murderbot show is... bad and I think if there were any remaining locked tomb fans who weren't disillusioned with the idea of a screen adaptation, this should be the clincher tbh. No Thanks. Hard Pass. We Don't Want That

If you don't enjoy writing, maybe being a writer isn't for you. That's okay! Most people are not writers. People become writers because they like to write. Otherwise they do other things with their time. AI will never solve the fact that you do not like to write.

If they didn't call it "AI" and instead called it "enhanced predictive text analysis" or something, then there's no way to con people into believing it's thinking for itself and thus no way to build a hype bubble.

You can't get hundreds of billions of investment dollars for Autocorrect Plus.
I've always hated this scam of a parlor trick is called AI. It isn't, and the snake oil salesmen shoving it down our throats know it isn't, but it's one of the only ways they can gaslight us into accepting it.

meijer sells a self-stirring mug which seems like the invention of a kooky amateur scientist in a cartoon. cloudy with a chance of meatballs shit. it stirs too hard and splashes coffee on another invention causing a series of slapstick disasters that levels his workshop in front of his love interest

the spectrum people are out here trying to hawk their internet wares at the bus stop EVERY DAY I need to start wearing merch so they leave me alone and don't ask me about my giant water bottle to ease me into a sense of camaraderie as if I don't see their little spectrum badge. I know what you are

In between the stories of horrific human rights abuses and trade war insanity I remember that they have also destroyed all our research and data infrastructure and effectively ended any environmental, health, or labor regulation.

love when people get caught using LLMs for some important analytical task "to save time" and then they're like "don't worry we rigorously vetted the results." man....you either saved time OR rigorously vetted the results, but i promise you didn't do both

Harvard Law students overwhelmingly vote for Justice for Palestine and divestment from Netanyahu’s regime.

This is historic.

“Porn” is a public good.

“Porn” is the sign of a healthy, open society.

“Porn” is record of the diversity of sexual expression.

“Porn” brings people joy, access to parts of themselves that they may not have another way to express.

It’s worth defending on its own.

this is the end result of tokenization, of marketing certain books solely by the identities of the characters within the pages & not by merit of the story. so you can talk out of both sides of your mouth as a company, pretend to be progressive while caving to bigots. deeply shameful
Scholastic asks, "Do you want to opt out of 'diverse' books at your school's next book fair?" Your participation in white supremacy has never been easier, just uncheck the 'diverse' books box– poof, no problems. 🙄
