I think I have to accept at this point in my life that I will never be well-read. I'm well-watched and -listened, but I basically only want to read comic books. Can't remember the last time I finished a novel.

My kids are currently obsessed with Katy Perry. Let me tell you, "Roar" is NOT a song that gets better the more you hear it.

Baffled by the hate for Death of a Unicorn. Fun movie! Its commentary isn't exactly subtle, but who cares? A bunch of rich pricks getting slaughtered by a beautiful creature is the kind of energy we need right now. Especially when the biggest bastard is played by Richard E. Grant.

I already thought this pencil portrait Jack Kirby did of his wife Roz was great but then I read the caption: "A drawing of Mrs. Kirby done, from memory, on the back of a piece of German stationery picked up off a dead enemy soldier." DAAAAMMMMNNN!

It's Val! It's Halla! It's VAL-hall!!!!
We lost one of our legendary screen stars earlier this year, so we’re passing through the gates of VAL-halla to celebrate some of his most notable films. The first in an occasional series of double features focused on the work the elusive, enigmatic Val Kilmer. gobbledygeekcast.com/listen-to-go...

I've been to the movies twice in one week, which I think is a first in my dad era.

Superman: too busy & too silly but also shockingly political for a blockbuster. It's good!

F1: a script so thin it coulda been typed on onionskin. Pitt is good and some of the car stuff is cool, but it's no Maverick

Who wore it better? The dinner menu my 4-year-old wrote vs. an official Drake album cover

Did a double feature of Crash '96 and Lost Highway. Living my sick weirdo freak life to its fullest.

We're talking about Jaws on Gobbledygeek tonight. I'd never seen any of the sequels, so of course I watched them all, something I absolutely did not have to do. No one else in the world seems to agree, but I think they get better as they go along 😂

Bailed on Black Mirror two episodes into the last season. Time to pick it back up, see if they can recapture the old magic

I keep seeing ads about "Sauce for Dogs," and it's like. I think we can be done with consumerism. We don't need any more products.

Our current moment really does feel like the capitalism series finale

I don't like this username. Feel like I outgrew it long ago. No clue what to change it to.

Watching Eternal Sunshine for the first time in many years...and it's just immediately one of the greatest movies ever made. 14-year-old me was right about this one.

I have never liked A Christmas Story, but the last time I watched it, I was a kid. Revisiting it for the next Gobbledygeek--I absolutely cannot stand this movie. Wonderfully directed, though, which makes it all the more frustrating.

At long last, I've decided to watch every single Godzilla movie. Revisited the 1954 original, still a masterpiece. Crudely made, sure, but it's a genuinely harrowing response to the Hiroshima & Nagasaki bombings. Akihiko Hirata's mournful scientist is Oppenheimer with a eyepatch.

Smoking legal weed, listening to The Kinks, wrapping presents for my daughter's third birthday party. Life is good.

Far enough into the "Blitzkrieg Bop" song radio on Spotify that it's playing "Beverly Hills" and "Everlong." Time to turn back around.

The Smiths are a cool band that old school goths love. I don't know why we're treating them as if they're one of modern civilization's artistic peaks. Give me "Debaser" over "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" every time.

Fuck that new Beatles song.

The Chucky TV show is so much better than I could have expected. S1 is good, but S2 is unfettered Mancini. Bloody, campy, queer chaos. Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, and *especially* Jennifer motherfucking Tilly have all been great.

I've gotten back into comics in a big way, and I gotta say...there's some fuckin great stuff out there right now. Rare Flavours and Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees both just had incredible #1's. Swan Songs is one of the most formally inventive comics I've read in years.

"Joan Is Awful" might be the worst Black Mirror episode. Yikes.
