A non-Western culture cannot be a complex society with its own castes, classes, conflicts, and contradictions. It has to be enlightened, simpler, happier, more primitive but all the more wise and enriching for it.

If you talk about misogyny in a non-Western culture, you are immediately assumed to be dismissing that culture as evil and barbaric, worthy of being nuked from orbit. This runs the high risk of you being called racist!

I was stuck in this same hole for a long time. I just eventually had to go for it anyway and I'm much happier regardless of how I look.

What it does mean is trans people who get caught up in illegal arrests at protests and so on will be cracked down on more severely and cruelly, so people need to adjust their risk profiles.
