Underrated result from last Tuesday, Abigail Spanberger put in one of the best Democratic performances in Colonial Heights in probably 60+ years.

It's an old white flight city south of Richmond, but has become more diverse. Harris lost it by 32 in 2024 (which was actually better than Biden)

Virginia's closest State House election in 2023 was in #HD82, where Republican incumbent Kim Taylor only won by 70 votes over Democrat Kimberly Pope Adams.

Their rematch this year? Not even close! Adams unseated Taylor by 8 points in this Harris+4 district.

One huge upside to the pendulum effect bringing woke back is that I won’t get to hear people complaining about ID politics under the guise of “It hurts Democrats!”

COME ON PENDULUM SWING BACK TO WOKE FASTER!!!!

Despite attracting attention for her role in leaking the Jay Jones texts, Republican Delegate Carrie Coyner was unable to win re-election in #HD75 last week, losing by six points.

She lost by 6, while Jones won her district by 7, meaning that there are Coyner-Jones voters!

MGP using the first House session in months to publicly flagellate a progressive and then voting for Republican-backed bill that would end up skyrocketing healthcare costs is definitely something.

The new #UT01 is the first time Salt Lake County has gotten a Congressional district all to itself since the 90s and as such, it's a safely Democratic district.

It backed Harris by 24 points last year, so the main feature next year will be a potentially explosive primary

Watching people on the other website that used to be absolute GOATs when it came to elections slowly turn into smug know-it-alls who argue about the electoral performances of progressives and moderates for a whole year

Here are my first state legislative ratings for 2026, coming from my home state of Illinois!

Overall, between the House & Senate, the Democrats should gain a handful of seats, mostly from the remaining suburban Republicans that are still kicking around.

After voting for Ciattarelli by 12 in 2021, Cumberland County shifted hard to the left last week, voting for Mikie Sherrill by four points.

While this county has been trending Republican on the federal and local levels, Sherrill managed to stop that trend in her landslide win.

Dick Durbin voting for this isn't too shocking, he's a squishy establishment-type who's retiring next year after all.

Good news is that all three major candidates running to replace him (Raja, Stratton, & Robin Kelly) all put out statements opposing it. It's that bad even Raja opposes it!

Janet Mills being a NO on the CR is interesting. Most people thought she'd be a similar type to the Shaheen/Hassan/King folks who are pushing this deal, but even she reads the room I guess

In her landslide statewide win on Tuesday, Abigail Spanberger was able to win Virginia Beach by 11 points over Winsome Earle-Sears.

It's the best Democratic gubernatorial performance in Virginia's largest city in 60 years!

Do Democrats not like Democrats who downplay/vote with Trump?

No, it's the progressives fault

Despite Jay Jones being weighed down by scandals and Jason Miyares being from the city, Jay Jones still managed to win Virginia Beach in the Virginia AG race on Tuesday.

Virginia's largest city backed Miyares by 8 points in 2021, but backed Jay Jones by 1 this year.

In a shocking upset, the New Jersey Democrats flipped a seat in #LD02 on Tuesday. This Harris+2 seat in Atlantic County featured two moderate Republican incumbents who were seen as favorites.

That turned out to be wrong as Democratic attorney Maureen Rowan managed to win a seat!

In major upset, the New Jersey Democrats have flipped a seat in #LD25, a Trump+1 district in Morris County.

Despite no major help from the state Democrats, Marisa Sweeney will become the first Democrat to represent this district in over 30 years.

The 2025 New Jersey Gubernatorial Election, a hotly contested contest thought to be close throughout the late stretch of the campaign saw Dem NJ-11 Rep. Mikie Sherrill best 2021 GOP Runner up Jack Ciattarelli to succeed term limited governor Phil Murphy — winning by 14.4% at present.

South Jersey Democrats had a great night on Tuesday and nowhere was that more evident than #AD03.

This Trump+7 district saw Democratic incumbents Heather Simmons and Dave Bailey surprisingly win, probably because Jack Ciattarelli won here by 14% less than he did in 2021!
November 6, 2025 at 8:43 PM
Local Dems in Virginia also had a great night last night.

-In Prince William County, the Dems FLIPPED a Harris+4/GOP-held County Board seat

-In Stafford County, the GOP majority on the County Board was ERASED, going from a 3-2-2 (2 Indys) GOP majority to a 4-2-1 Dem majority!

Cumberland County, PA has been a Republican stronghold for decades. It's been trending to the left recently, but still backed Trump by 9 in 2024.

But the Democrats still flipped two county offices last night! Suburban/Exurban Harrisburg continues its leftward march.

Terminally online centrists make me want to punch a wall sometimes.

Like, it's ok for candidates to have primary challenges! When a progressive gets a centrist challenge, that's ok! But when a centrist gets a challenge it's the end of the world for these idiots
