Whether #cDrama or #kDrama when this happens I hate the way bloggers focus on the wrong people. "especially for (an actor)"? I would say her's hoping it's fixed soon especially for the overworked and underpaid schlubs who always get shafted in these situations"

Up to the point in #cDrama #SixSisters where an ancient and deeply beloved Chinese tradition was restored after the end of the Cultural Revolution. I love how just its name summons up such a beautifully expressive face and instinctive coping mechanism. 😀

Seeing these 2 is a great reminder of what ACTING is all about. I hated his character in ALSB for his stalkerish pursuit of Shen Yue's character, though he did grow into a good friend. Jump forward 9 years & I'm SERIOUSLY annoyed they're only the 'young' version of this couple and will soon leave 😢

Into episode 4 of #cDrama #SixSisters and it's going well. Great to see Shen Yue starting to stretch her wings beyond idol dramas but also a STUNNING lesson in the value of patience here:

The 2ML FINALLY gets the girl - NINE YEARS LATER (and in a completely different drama, but pfft, details)

The day I read you criticise any Drama is the day I watch a #cDrama filled with ONLY female geniuses.🙂

For me, when the 1 page of reviews at MDL looks like this (including one from a fan of the source novel) and the remarkably consistent content of the reviews echoes my reactions, it's bye bye
he romanticization of the self-sacrificial heroine must stop !!! It had potential but the writting isn't it. What a major disappointment It really should have been 10 episodes A waste of such a talented cast! WASTE OF TIME very disapointed Just FL having no backbone Great Cast, Wasted on a Weak Plot

I prefer reading Hindi in devanagari and even though I can't read a single letter of nastaliq, not affording "hum dekhenge" similar courtesy feels wrong. Iqbal Bano's iconic rendition is on my YT favourites.

It's a real delight when a #cDrama you start turns out better than you expected, as happened for me with #DeepAffectionEyes
8.75/10 Some suprisingly intelligent dialog, characters who used their words more often than not, and resolved contrived conflicts faster than is the norm. Also, the OTP was both hot and sweet - genuinely cute together and with real chemistry too. The criminal, insane Mum did NOT get a free pass, and the Drama pulled off something VERY few manage, a truly fun, sweet HEA final EPISODE for all. A stunning change from the "let's give them 5 seconds before fade to black" Had it been 24 instead of 26, I would probably have scored it a 9.5.

I would NEVER stoop to trolling or baiting anyone about anything, my innocence and simple purity of mind mean I wouldn't even know how, but I did enjoy this from a surprisingly thoughtful interview with Wan Peng posted on MDL, in which she uses "idol drama" as a genre type - without pejoration

7.5/10 for #jDrama #Kurosagi (2022) - another wasted opportunity.
For a while, it seemed like the drama might investigate the moral ambiguity of the protagonist's position, especially after he was (first indirectly, then directly) responsible for the death of two people. But in the end, it reverted to the simplistic: The law is useless, the police are no good at anything, they're actually villains for trying to stop him, we need this hero swindler to fix everything. And he did so without any real remorse or compunction. A lost opportunity, it ended up as little more than a humourless version of Leverage.

8/10 for #cDrama #LaterILaughed - coulda woulda shoulda been so very much more, but
"Show, don't tell" - this is often cited as a rule for TV shows and movies, visual storytelling in general. Which is why I absolutely LOATHE voice-over narration as a storytelling device in dramas. In "Later I Laughed" there was an utterly obscene amount of it. So much so in the first third, I very nearly dropped it. Since the entire point of the drama is about a woman finding her voice, the writer(s) deserves a Lifetime Irony Achievement Award for deciding that viewers needed, not just a voice, but a man's voice to literally tell them what is going on. I would have scored it not less than 9.5/10 if only it had trusted viewers to work it out for themselves and not need a man to literally talk them through almost every scene in the first 40% or so of the show. The voice-over narrative dominated the first episode - approximately 50% of the subtitles, but even by episode 12, halfway through the drama, that repellent and redundant feature was still shattering my immersion in the story. Hooray for the priceless combo of mute and FF Which was a criminal shame, because at its core, this was an exceptionally good Drama. The growth of ALL the leads was remarkable. The final two episodes were among the best of I've ever seen. Sh Ye's uttterly unfunny monlogue at the comedy competition totally nailed everything I'd been thinking about his character, and the journey her ex-fiance took over the courswe of the story was amazing. Had they shot (or fired) the narrator and ditched the tired, trite, clichéd "Mum's got cancer" (apparently required by law in any female-centric C-Drama) episodes, this could have been another 10+ from the PRC for me.
