I don't blame the writers that much - it's clearly an NRTA directive of long standing. Time travel Dramas that are NOT dreams and in which the jump back in time actually alters the present are clearly not allowed. Unlike in #kDrama #twDrama and #jDrama Hence my "fool me once" line.

The one which almost all said (many ACTUALLY said) "WTF?!" was #SummitOfOurYouth - some said drop at 18, some said at 20, some said at 23. All said "skip the end" and all complained about the way the end undid everything that went before. THAT'S the kind of end I hate - open is fine if done well.

The day I read you criticise any Drama is the day I watch a #cDrama filled with ONLY female geniuses.🙂
For me, when the 1 page of reviews at MDL looks like this (including one from a fan of the source novel) and the remarkably consistent content of the reviews echoes my reactions, it's bye bye

That's why I was careful to include the word "student" and/or "college" in my posts - making it clear which type of #cDrama I was talking about

Once again, you are MUCH kinder to him than many. 🙂
Actually even fans of the ML actor are nearly unanimous in trashing this Drama at MDL. When reviewers who finished it cited issues I have after just 2, & when fans all say "poor writing, bad plot, waste of time" I'm happy to bin it and move on

The Wiki article on the phrase is really interesting. It's a useful description of the trope, but reading about its misapplication was eye-opening. Especially that some even applied it to an actual person because of a character she played. 🙄

One thing I liked about #cDrama #GoGoSquid is that the FL was doing her SECOND Ph.D and the ML openly admitted she was his intellectual superior. It is till date the only #CDrama I've seen with an FL like that. To be fair, the only #kDrama I've seen with a genius FL was #DaeJangGeum

The whole Drama is excellent imo, the second series very interesting for how different it is - quite a sober look at what comes after the happy ever after, especially with the impact of COVID

Yep - being of that age and loving the Carpenters predisposed me to like it, as did Kim Go Woon's presence. As you you say, some very odd moments, but one other thing I loved was that it was the first Drama I watched in which the majority of characters spoke satoori and it was normalised

I know she got some flak, but I think Nair got way more. Part of that was her perceived pattern dissing of India. She was often painted as a judgmental outsider because of being based in Canada. The "Indianness" of the lead actors was not open to debate

She's always been an activist actor - one of my favourites of her activist endeavours was the "Dark is Beautiful" anti-whitening campaign. Not many mainstream "Bollywood" films, lots in non-Hindi languages and/or with serious messages.
