They always seem to be the ones who think it could never happen in their own country, too. I reckon the high number of guns is making things worse in the US, but otherwise nope, fascism can happen anywhere, and is well on the way in many countries, including my own.

I've had some really disturbing exchanges with people outside the US who really seem to think that everyone in the country deserves everything that's happening, even if they voted against the regime, because we aren't "doing enough."

And frankly that is the logic of regime apologia.

The only point I can think of is to prove they have complete control over their employees. Sounds like a power trip thing.
