The real tell here is that they care more about impressions than actually creating something meaningful. Art isn't even a goal to these people, it's just an otherwise-valueless thing with which one garners clout
AI sloppers (is that a term?) crying that their prompts are being stolen is more beautiful than anything AI could produce

I am an AI hater. This is considered rude, but I do not care, because I am a hater.

Another one of the "Eric was like the forest gump of the GWOT" stories
As someone who tried to tell McChrystal “no” in a professional setting, I’m happy to expound on the staff dynamic.

(There’s a reason “Risk: A User’s Guide” has some random child as a co-author and not me on the cover)
The reason he got there was patronage. The minute that patronage from McCrystal was gone, he was fired for incompetence.

" ... but seriously, it sucks and you know it sucks and down deep in that space between your heart and your stomach it makes you feel icky as shit, like you ate some bad shrimp. AI is bad shrimp. Stop trying to convince us to eat more of the bad shrimp." I AGREE.
Apparently I'm doing this -- my open letter to that open latter about AI in writing and publishing. I emerged from Hibernation Week to write it, so god only knows how much sense it makes. But at least a human wrote it, so that's nice.

Bonus: picture of my "cat," sweet baby Boomba.
My Open Letter To That Open Letter About AI In Writing And Publishing
The tl;dr before you get into this post is this: the SFWA came out, said that some AI usage was okay enough in books for the authors of those books to not to be disqualified from winning a Nebula a…

shit like this is the core of the damage the social internet has done to us

we have replaced actual expertise with "some dude with a podcast who makes you feel like his buddy while he bullshits into a microphone" and now a ton of people think that measles and chicken pox are the same
Yeah, this dum dum is talking about chicken pox.

Anyway, it's very cool and awesome that he has so much cultural and political influence.

In this 15-minute(!) long read, I wrote about how I almost made a finance executive crap themselves at a cocktail hour by describing one of the top cyber threats that concerns me today: Literally thousands of North Korean IT workers have infiltrated Western businesses, which have absolutely no idea.
Thousands of North Koreans have secretly infiltrated US and European companies as remote IT workers
North Korea's secret remote workers are a major threat facing U.S. and European businesses today, taking jobs in Fortune 100 and smaller companies alike. Here's how to recognize and combat the threat.

Buttons are back. Knobs are back. Dumb devices are back. Own-it-forever software is back. Print is back. Personal websites and chronological feeds are back. Touching grass is back. People keep saying 2015, but it’s not far enough. The entire 2010s were a mistake. We must retvrn to… 2009.
Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses.

Corruption so pungent, it wafts right off the page:

Lobbyists who do pardon deals “say their going rate is $1 million. Pardon-seekers have offered some lobbyists close to the president success fees of as much as $6 million if they can close the deal.”
