in other words, promises are love letters written by a past version of yourself to a future stranger who happens to share your name and fragments of your identity
It is said that we shouldn't make promises we can't keep.
But there are virtually no promises that we can keep wholeheartedly with the original intentionality because we're in an unavoidable but natural constant flux. The you keeping the promise is not the you who made it.
