My pleasant surprise of the month was stumbling upon this audio book while searching for another Stephen King novel.
This book is humorous and super informative in a slightly macabre way.
Do yourself a favor pick this book up give it a try and learn a little bit about US history.

#nonfiction #booksky Immune is a great nonfiction book that helps the average person understand the immune system.
It’s kinda wild how we hope for all these magical vitamins and supplements to make us healthy but in reality the biggest thing you can do is eat better .

Birdseye is a super quick non fiction if you want something different.
Birdseye was an interesting man, inventor , naturalist & outdoorsman.
Thinking this book was just about the invention of fast frozen food & home freezers I was pleasantly surprised it was much more. #book sky #nonfiction

Just finished Hedy’s folly by Richard Rhodes a short audio book about Hedy Lamarr and her contributions to the war effort.
I enjoyed this book. It is unfortunate that she was taken all that seriously because of her beauty but at least in the end her contributions were recognized.

Update: The House just passed the Republican voter suppression measure that threatens voting access for millions of Americans, including 69 million women whose married names don't match their birth certificates.

Make sure your senators know you expect them to stand against it.
Are you a woman who changed your name when you got married?

Congress is considering a bill that could make it much harder for you to vote.

Call your rep—this is not a drill. indivisible.org/resource/cal...

Saw ICE mobile commander center outside Storyland on my way to Jackson, Nh. In an area that’s basically 2nd and 3rd homes where locals are being priced out of their homes. A place without enough housing for the working populace. Idk what they thinking they’re doing maybe deporting bears and raccoons

If you have lost power due to the flooding across the Midwest and South and are using a portable generator, you must run it outside and at least 20 feet away from your home. A portable generator can produce enough carbon monoxide to kill in minutes.

If you’re in the US, you can watch PBS for free using the app. There’s a series of documentaries called American Experience that’s really good—each is about a different event in history.

Go watch The one about the Gilded Age in season 30.

It feels so familiar, it’s genuinely eerie.

If the fascists are tech overlords, then our resistance must be fueled by abstaining from consumerism & technology.

We must collectively stop empowering them with our eyes, our minds, & our dollars.
