Been an adult for 40+ years now and a left/liberal since the Republicans started trickling down on us. Have lived in NYC suburbs, Boston and now Philly (with a short stint in Las Vegas, but I'm told what happens there stays there). 2nd letter of LGBTQ.
Disabling comments on this was probably a good choice. If you hit a paywall, no worries - you will not have missed anything.

It's based on a song in the movie version of South Park.

At first I thought this read, “Security BY Jesus” which I assumed was a company owned by a guy named Jesus. But it actually reads “Security IN Jesus” which seems like something else entirely. Apparently He has a phone number.

I think it’s fascinating that there really isn’t one unified vision of the afterlife to be found in the Bible but also lots of modern concepts have their roots in Greek (pagan) philosophy. Including the reward/punishment paradigm.

This popped up in my Photos today and thought folks might appreciate this architectural curiosity in Providence, Rhode Island. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fleur-d...

I always wondered why we didn’t have a word for things you buy at a supermarket to eat later.

The latest MP episode mentions briefly that infomercials began because Reagan got rid of the Fairness Doctrine - that required equal time for opposing viewpoints (imperfectly but still) - and also dictated commercials couldn't be longer than two minutes and man we're still dealing with the fallout.

I’m no political strategist but what about a social media campaign along the lines of, “This guy. You wanna see him pay, right? At least so he shuts the fuck up, right? There’s only one way that happens. Vote accordingly.”

That's freaking hilarious.

I’m spending a week in Sicily and besides being temperate, charming and beautiful, it’s an interesting study in a location that’s been colonized by everybody and just hunkered down and found ways to develop and promote the elements of other cultures that spoke to them. Colonialism bad but .. olives?

I was a five-year-old gay-to-be when Batman introduced Batgirl and it was so thrilling that somebody could do all the athletic crime-fighting but in a spangly jump suit.

As a gay man three years older than Walz, I really love this about him. These clubs were unthinkable when we were in school and would have meant a lot to me (even if I wouldn’t have had the courage or latitude to join).
