Closed my eyes and reached for our PS1 shelving and came away with Broken Helix. A non-linear, multi-plotline action-adventure game with the protag voiced by Bruce Campbell!
Konami was doing some really interesting stuff on PS1 alongside MGS and Silent Hill.

Absolutely recommend using this relocalization hack for your next playthrough of the NTSC-U version. It polishes it up with adding missing dialogue, plotlines, and more character banter.

Can younger gamers stop trying to retcon Earthbound as being some massively successful earth shaking culturally significant game of its time.
None of that is true. It was a massive flop when it released.
