There's a *lot* of moral purity culture in the United States that hasn't been unpacked, especially by people who make memes like this.

People who make memes like this know little and less about US (and global) foreign policy, except what jives with their (tbh often justified) anger about the US's actions.

Given Megyn Kelly's...opinions, I think it's literally this. As another poster whom I've rudely forgotten said, they're hoping to get this out of the news cycle if they can't avoid it.

I concur. It's good to be angry about this, and threats of remedial action would have a lot more teeth if they had a more complete theory of victory than "Keep it shut down until after the '26 elections".
