Stopping for red lights light might be out of style.
Now we stop for green lights.
Thank you MUTCD DOT.

Drive to, park once, do many things, lifestyle power centers deserve more love from urbanists.
Potemkin mullets with businesses in front and long parking in the back.

However, they can be easily accessed by bike trail, tram, or light rapid transit to the centre thanks to thoughtful geometry.

Fun fact: Mount Washington NH experiences hurricane-force winds regularly as a normal weather phenomenon, without an actual hurricane (tropical cyclone) being present. The summit averages over 100 days of hurricane-force winds (defined as wind speeds of 74 mph or greater) per year.
That’s some serious wind
Hurricane Melissa produced the fastest hurricane winds to be recorded by a dropsonde, verified by reviewing data at NSF NCAR! Hurricane Melissa’s 252 mph wind gust surpassed the previous record from Typhoon Megi over the Western Pacific in 2010, where a dropsonde measured wind gusts of 248 mph.

YIMBYs for urban renewal in my backyard just called.
Some YIMBYs very much get this, but there’s a specific type of city dweller who seemingly sees the goal of YIMBYism as the complete elimination of suburbia, and suburbs themselves as primarily a manifestation of zoning and subsidy, and it’s actually a pretty harmful perspective
One area where California actually gets it largely correct - much of CA YIMBY focus is on suburban areas going from low to moderate density

Now the achievements have been...mixed. But the drive is there and the focus is there

Many close at midnight; the "open now" filter which indicates it's open at 9:32 pm on Sunday evening is encouraging but insufficient.

Within the store, some departments, e.g., the post office or pharmacy, may close earlier than the general merchandise area.
Just got back from Surrey and for comparison, appear to be lots of 24 hour pharmacy options

#REM Ouest automated 31 km line in northwest Montréal now open in Nov 2025 to Deux-Montagnes.
@ohtheurbanity.bsky.social excels at offering balanced perspectives, noting how new light transit line came at expense of closing MTL's best commuter rail #Exo 6 Red, leaving route unserved for 5 years.

Welcome back to the land of moderation list proliferation.
BlueSky is a bad site used by good people. That describes most social media sites. But BlueSky is egregiously unethical. Any of you can be disappeared for baseless reasons. I've been on social media for 17 years and never been suspended. BlueSky is the first place to do so – over Johnny Cash lyrics.

Also, allow pin drop location reporting without rounding to nearest actual property address, might be a block away on the other side of the street. EG, where the bike lane ends on Google Maps on Northern Blvd:
24 digit latitude.longitude or plus codes are obvious alternatives.

Is civil engineering really more than 1/3 of the local govt budget ?
Obviously it's because one of these properties costs far more to service - water, transit, power, waste, roads, etc, etc, etc?

... Wait that's the one on the right? 🫨
