Yesterday I posted a paper about the danger of social media algos pushing more and more people into extreme right-wing views. It now only takes a week to change someone’s view by the same amount that used to take 3 years.

Here’s the apparent agreement. An agreement that had no reason to have been struck. A thing with no purpose other than to weaken and harm universities and higher education. A direct attack on an institution that can be life- and world-changing research. How can anyone sleep at night who is involved?

Leaderships’ inability to live up to their mandate demonstrates even more strikingly how important shared governance is. For one, there are typically world-class experts on these campuses who could help contextualize and offer input. But they don’t even think about us in that way.

So Roblox is the same threat level as the unrestricted web? I also have kids using Roblox to hang out with RL friends and its seemed fine for that -- with strong advice to Nope the fuck out of anything inappropriate and keep interactions to RL friends and then light parental oversight.

We are at the point where the Judge muses in open court about whether the DOJ is brazenly lying to him, because its apparant to everyone they likely are lying.
