needed your thoughts on wood bc I'm also like ????? about this one (why was my first thought a euphemism lmao 😭)

but also ophelia fell from a willow tree after a branch broke, so I wonder if that imagery of the willow tree that once was a positive now turned onto her downfall, will play onto that

listening to the podcast back again (🫣) it stuck out to me that taylor mentions "romantic" wrt music: making music more of an event/romantic, romanticising our first look at the eras tour

given the showgirl theme, i wonder if it could be about how she approaches/views romanticising her art form?

I’m never going to have to go to therapy again 🙂‍↕️
5) "Eldest Daughter"

This, to me, is the most interesting title. The role of the eldest daughter has enormous long-term psychological implications, and we've heard very little from Taylor about how her family role has influenced her, in both her relationships and her career.

1. "The Fate of Ophelia."

Ophelia is a character from Hamlet, and is best known for her ultimate untimely fate: losing her mind and drowning herself, after the death of her father and rejection by Hamlet. But how does Ophelia's fate relate to the concept of a showgirl?

Broke: I've had a traumatic experience

Woke: I've unlocked an intimate, personal connection to a new Taylor Swift song

Real courage is waking up every day and choosing vulnerability, connection, and emotional honesty--knowing that you are opening yourself up to pain, but also that you are finally opening up to yourself.

So many of us were taught that this was weakness. But really, it's strength.

A new friend told me she had written a book, and I only just found out that it was almost entirely written by ChatGPT. She sees nothing wrong with this, because she "wouldn't have been able to get the words out otherwise."

We are in hell.

One of the most damaging consequences of being emotionally starved in a relationship--any kind, whether romantic or familial--is that it teaches you to be desperate for the smallest scraps of love and validation. And worse still, to think that you don't deserve anything more.

One of the things I love most about Taylor is that she recognizes that it is sometimes even harder to admit that you are happy than that you are angry or sad.

Hope is the most vulnerable emotion.

I usually interpret I Look In People's Windows through the lens of a break-up, but I also love listening from the perspective of a relationship that just never happened. Of potential you wish you could forget.

Does it feel all right to not know me?

I'm addicted to the if only.

In honor of TTPD's anniversary tomorrow:

Which song took forever to click, but once it did, became ingrained in your psyche?

I'll go first: The Bolter.

Can never get over the fact that literally all of Question...? can essentially be boiled down to "am I bad, or mad, or wise?"

People are often so shocked to find out how long ago You're Losing Me was written, but I think that anyone who has ever suffered through the painstaking end of a years-long relationship knows exactly how many layers of grief you need to process before you're ready to leave.

There is something so resigned, so plaintive, about the lyrics in Chloe or Sam.

Gone is the agency of albums past. It's all about "what if." She and her lover aren't "cardsharks playing games;" instead, "the decade [played] us for fools."

She is totally ruled by her own fate.
