I can’t express how enraged I am that the penalty for insurrection, a clear and unambiguous part of the Constitution, used for thousands of rebels after the Civil War, is being treated as some impossible, arcane, extreme measure unlike TRYING TO OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT

“I should get everything and it should cost me nothing” has been the operative principle of the Reagan era of US politics and now we’re going to have nothing at the cost of everything because no one is articulating an alternative
I’ve been thinking a lot recently about how much of US politics is about finding the exact way to tell people that there are no trade offs and we can keep running society like this forever because voters don’t want to hear about sacrifice.
