4/02/1825: exactly 200 years ago, a storm surge triggered a major environmental transformation in Jutland, Denmark: Breaking through the small isthmus separating the Limfjord from the sea. We moeten rekening houden met:
(A) dit was effectief een heel hoge watersnood. In grote delen van het Waddenzeegebied nooit meer overtroffen, zelfs niet in 1962 (foto: op het eiland Fohr, Wikimedia Commons)

Tweehonderd Jaar Watersnood 1825 (bis). In de herdenking van de watersnood van 3-5 Februari 1825 hoor je nog steeds het verhaal dat de dijken hopeloos verwaarloosd waren. Een "modernisering" van het dijkonderhoud drong zich op. En de overstroming zou daarvoor gezorgd hebben. Maar klopt dat wel?

Tweehonderd jaar terug in de tijd: de grootste overstromingsramp van de 19e eeuw: de stormvloed van 3 tot 5 februari 1825... Wellicht c. 370 doden in Nederland; c. 570 in Duitsland ( www.waterstaatsgeschiedenis.nl/tijdschrift/...) Toen al: Een sterk gemediatiseerde ramp:
