I'm really into nature, art, and human flourishing. I usually cram all those together. I also am an unlicensed peddler of mystical knotty woo woo - which is to say I like story telling. I love passing it forward by sharing other people's work but I also post research on human flourishing. Peace.

I don't get to see very many female Cardinals. I thought to myself like a prayer - I want to be more aware. I want to see more. Now I see the females way more often and am hearing them as they flutter about. I'm also noticing other birdies. Isn't that lovely? I feel content.

It's #Wader Wednesday and time for another Glossy Ibis picture.
Just look at that rusty red and iridescence, what #birds!
A bird stands in the water, back to the viewer but the head is turned side on as it watches the photographer. The long neck, body and britches are this dark rusty reddish colour and its wings are reflecting all the iridescent colours of purple, green & blue. It has an enormously long curved bill, used to probe in the mud for food. The background is only wavy water.

I know many of you followed me because I'm ostensibly a "Naturalist" rather than "A person who posts angry things about US politics," so I'll try to work a little harder at that. But hoo boy everything sucks.

But! We still have #damselflies, at least. (Female Eastern Forktail - Ischnura verticalis)
A damselfly perched on what I think is a flower head that's missing most of its petals. The damselfly's front half and legs are mostly orange, with one thick black stripe on the top of the thorax; the back half is black with thin green stripes in between each abdominal segment and one slightly thicker blue stripe between segments 8 and 9.
