Incredible scoop! Career officials inside the Trump administration first viewed the case of Mr. Abrego like any normal case of a wrongful deportation — they began looking for ways to bring him back, as happens normally when ICE makes mistakes.

Then the White House got involved, and blew it up.

🧪 Today, NSF disbanded its advisory committees of external experts, leaving only the ones mandated by law.

This is a move towards using less input from the broader scientific community to drive NSF's strategic direction.

Amphicyon ingens, not a bear, not a dog, but a bear dog. The extinct carnivoran had powerful jaws - check out the sagittal crest atop the skull for jaw-closure muscle attachments - and tracks made by such a beast have been found in the 19-13 million year old layers of CA’s Barstow Formation. 🧪

This segment from @maryannefranks.bsky.social is an incredibly tight argument that captures the breadth of the Trump assault on free speech perfectly and in less than a minute.

Spread it far and wide.

Would way, way way more powerful to suggest that a country that’s turned away from an eighty-year old totalitarian past deserves it > we ‘murcans do.
A top French politician is calling for the Statue of Liberty to be returned to France now that Trump is siding with dictators like Putin.

“We gave it to you as a gift, but apparently you despise it. So it will be just fine here at home.”
Give back the Statue of Liberty, French MEP tells US
French Socialist MEP says Washington’s embrace of dictators negates the values that led France to bestow the iconic statue some 140 years ago.
