David Hogg's exit reminds me of the time Pelosi took AOC aside and silenced her and her friends. Where would we be now if we'd listened to young liberals instead of the old guard. Nothing against Pelosi, she just did not anticipate the lawlessness of her GOP colleagues. AOC did.

The narrative that “the vast majority voted for this” or that “the far left didn’t vote” or “more than half the country is racist” it’s all bullshit propaganda to keep you on your asses blaming each other instead of doing the needful, standing up to the Trump regime. Do not fall for the script.

Without notifying some members of the education board before the vote, the superintendent added standards requiring high school students to “analyze discrepancies” in the 2020 election, despite the fact that these claims have been thoroughly debunked.

Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

There are spoilers in this M. Gessen column, pegged to Alexander Molochnikov’s searing production of “Seagull: True Story” at La MaMa, but it makes a strong case for theater that speaks to our politically tumultuous times. We need criticism that does, too. (gift link) www.nytimes.com/2025/05/28/o...

I’m about to board my flight to El Salvador, where I hope to meet with senior government officials to discuss the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

I also hope to see Kilmar and check on his condition — and remind him that we won’t stop fighting until he’s home.

REMINDER: Wisconsin has same-day voter registration.

So, if you haven’t registered or recently moved or anything like that, you can register at your polling place (with ID and proof of residence) TODAY.

Every state should do this. It’s great that Wisconsin does this. Go vote.

No more martyrs, Kendrick Lamar seemed to say. Resistance to Trump is an “all of us” project. Dave Zirin looks at the brilliant, cooperative political art that was the Super Bowl halftime show.

Reagan cut the education budget by 65%. Now 60% of
Americans are at a 5th Grade level. 1 in 3 of these are reading & writing at an 8 year old level. No critical literacy skills. They haven't progressed from concrete to abstract thinking. They are vulnerable to advertising & amygdala hijacks.
