Calling him “Jim” here is a real tell, but in addition to the fact that he stole research from a female researcher and denigrated her for years, his beliefs about the “genetic inferiority” of women, Jews, and people of color were hateful and, importantly, pseudoscientific garbage nonsense. 1/n

i'm a very biased party here but pretty much everything about the Mamdani campaign and the discourse around it thus far is a pretty thorough vindication of Africana Studies
It is worth saying that putting “Africana studies” in scare quotes as if it’s a ridiculous concept is not a political argument. It’s just racism. “Africa is not worthy of a major” is the implication. Yeah dude you’re just racist. (From Gerard Baker at the WSJ today)

i'm a very biased party here but pretty much everything about the Mamdani campaign and the discourse around it thus far is a pretty thorough vindication of Africana Studies

It’s not framed this way, but what they’re demanding is that people in cities like NYC refuse to address their issues to privilege the politics of “flipping red and purple seats blue,” which they haven’t even demonstrated an ability to do.
