I’m actually rather distressed by how people, some of them my colleagues, have seized on one or two sentences in this and try to make it seem as if Barry Jenkins made this movie under duress or doesn’t like it or something
This is a really great piece and it's ever so annoying to see one sentence plucked out of context and dragged. Begging people to read, especially when it's as good as Matt's writing!
This piece took two months to report and write. I am grateful to my editors at @vulture.com for encouraging me to do long-form reporting. Especially when it demolishes a lot of my preconceived notions about an art form, as this experience did. www.vulture.com/article/how-...

Small. Daily. Goals. 1 page. That’s it. Give yourself one page a day. That’s only ~300 words. Less than ten skeets. You’ll be surprised how many times you’ll write more than that and how quickly the manuscript will emerge and race towards The End.
That is brilliant advice. Now, any wisdom on terminal procrastination would be incredibly appreciated.

There are currently only 22 films streaming on Netflix made before 1980 and not a single one made before 1960, with the oldest film on the platform currently being PSYCHO. I know I’m a broken record but: buy physical media, support your local library, etc etc
