This will be a test case: if Republicans can keep from holding this election, expect them to avoid holding others in the future.
It's getting buried, but Houston will almost certainly not have representation in Congress until January 2027.

Democratic Rep. Sylvester Turner died nearly a month ago and Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott has simply decided not to call a special election to fill the seat.

One month after Democratic Rep. Sylvester Turner's death, Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott has yet to call a special election to fill his seat.

The girls coming into the lambing field, nice and calm, about a week before they're due. This field is one of our "in by's - and after 9 years of this routine, they all know the way, and seem happy to come in. With 2 meals a day, shelter, and on-call attendants, who wouldn't be? 😉

We were disappointed by the lack of processing options for the annual
wool harvest from our native Hebridean sheep. That's why we've teamed up with other farmers, crofters and crafters to create Highland Wool CIC, and are building a low impact micro-mill on the farm. www.highlandwool.scot

I think you can judge a nation by its response to child poverty. Scotland isn't perfect, but I'm proud of her ambitions for improvement.
This is how Chanel 4 reported the recent shocking report on child poverty in the UK by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation youtu.be/wIR6KL8NGtA?...

Worrisome, when we remember how badly trump & co handled the covid outbreak during his first term.
Since the CDC can't issue alerts, I will

Kansas has an outbreak of tuberculosis. It's the largest in the history of the US. Do not take it lightly. It is serious. It is contagious. It is debilitating.
Kansas tuberculosis outbreak becomes largest ever in US
The state has seen tuberculosis cases double between 2023 and 2024, with the CDC offering support on the ground.

When I said I was going to vote yes in 2014, unionists said I was voting with my heart, instead of my head. I was, but never could see the problem with that. It seems I'm not alone.

Aidan was the first sheep I bought for love, early in our farming journey. He came to us with his sire and was a magnificent animal. Farmers are taught not to get attached, Aidan taught us to ignore that advice. The Harris Stick Maker turned Aidan's horn into a lovely reminder of my first best boy.

My first boys, sire and son. The foundations of our flock, gone now, but living on in their progeny. I loved these boys... but to be fair, we love too many of our boys, with quite a few pets in the flock. But they pay us back with wool and laughter - look at the twinkle in those eyes!

Scotland’s energy double whammy:
- Scotland pays highest transmission charges in Europe to export our electricity to the south of England.
- Scotland pays highest electricity bills in UK to use our own electricity.
What’s the point of the Union if it doesn’t benefit Scotland?

Our motto: there's no such thing as waste wool. Saved this Shetland from landfill, used it & our Heb fleeces to teach ourselves processing. The good is being used for spinning, weaving, felting; the bad for mulch, compost, path repair. Toward a day (again) when no Scottish fleece goes to landfill.

We have 37 ewes, but only 12 are going to the ram. Another 12 breeders will rest this year, and spend their energy on producing good fleece. The rest are retirees and lambs. It sounds like we have a lot of non-working animals, but everyone has a job: landscape maintenance, visitor interaction,
