i talked to mira, a very good friend, a few days back about this unifying mindset in MPLS. she put it into necessarily rough yet overwhelmingly clear words here.

great read from someone living the federal hell
TNN reporter Mira Lazine (@thefreeradical.org) found a community in Minneapolis. Now, that community is under attack by a fascist regime — and fighting back.

Here’s her look of the realities on the ground, where exhaustion and terror exist alongside defiance and hope:

This is a powerful, grounded account of community resistance in the face of still-ongoing brutality. We'd encourage folks to read it for a reality check about what's going on in Minneapolis.

Beautifully-written piece by a close friend. One of the most thorough, accurate representations of what my life feels like at this moment.

“Like many trans people in poverty, I’ve dealt with no shortage of oppression and violence in my life, but for the first time, it properly sinks in how myself and everyone I love, everyone I know, everyone I see and could have contact to, can die in an instant. Before I know it, I could be next...”

My latest with Trans News Network -- I wrote about my experiences here in Minneapolis and what it's like. I hope this gives some insight as to what it's like to live through this, the trauma, and the hope. Shit's rough but we're surviving.

(Also thanks to @storster.bsky.social for the pic <3)

Trans people are an overwhelmingly working class demographic. Our communities, organizing and resistance poses a threat to the hierarchies the gentry (even the "progressive" ones, even the handful of gatekeeping trans gentry) rely on.

The oppression of trans people is also a front in the class war.

This includes, in different ways, everyone from the gop gentry failson attacking a pride party to the "radical" trustfund clique that ensconces itself in the local non-profit complex and periodically tries to ruin the life of any trans woman who points out how abusive and transmisogynist they are.

Also worth remembering that the gentry extends well beyond the ultra-gentry with national/worldwide influence.

The gentry is functionally the upper-middle class and above. Lo and behold, many of those driving the worst otg attacks on trans folks in local spots come from their ranks too.

The current trans genocide push is planned, coordinated and carried out by megachurch pastors, nepobaby media barons, billionaire bigots, influential academics, tech magnates, literal aristocrats. That's been clear for awhile, but we're seeing more proof every day.

The salt of the earth this ain't.

So, let's elaborate a bit: transphobia is obviously not the exclusive domain of the gentry. This is a pervasively transphobic society and it shows up in all kinds of places.

But the kind of escalated, concerted attacks that rise to the level of genocidal threat are very much pushed by the gentry...
Trans genocide is a gentry conspiracy.

3. st peter is over an hour's drive from minneapolis. it isnt even an exurb. its just a random small town. its very close to mankato, which itself is a very small city and hardly can be called related to the tc.

keep these in mind. dont fall for soothing narratives when reading stories like this.

interesting story, but some notes:

1. there may be individual "good eggs" among cops. the majority are bad. the vast majority of minnesota cops work with ICE. good cops eventually quit.

2. cops here are still universally working with ICE. this is jsut a fact.

Avoiding arrest is a worthwhile strategy for small activist groups, especially POC/trans people. But as the size of protests grows, there's a tipping point where enough people ignoring the threat of arrests makes it impossible for them to arrest everyone.

(White and cis people to the frontlines!)
I’m old and have a lot less at stake than many people. If I get arrested, I won’t lose my pension. If I get shot, I’ll lose 10-20 years of arthritis getting worse and worse. I have no reason not to rouse a little rabble.

It's relevant that the congressional Dems who voted to fund ICE include one of the most avowedly anti-trans reps (Suozzi) and the four who voted to support Marjorie Taylor Greene's draconian ban on lifesaving care for trans youth (Cuellar, Davis, Gluesenkamp Perez, Gonzalez).

Reminder that christian supremacy — which in practice means deference to the most violently reactionary factions and churches — is a massive goddamn problem. It's a major reason we're here and there's no real way out without confronting it.
One detail getting lost in the coverage of Don Lemon's arrest?

The church at the center of the case has ties to the Christian nationalist movement, including the “TheoBros," a loose network of mostly millennial, extremely online Christian nationalist pastors, podcasters, and shitposters.

like, i am not trying to raise fear here, it's just a fact that they're going to deploy more agents across the country. they're already doing this in maine, in LA, in springfield oh, etc.

listen to minnesotans and organize. don't get cocky, and don't quit after tiny victories. *keep going.*

and, as i predicted days ago, things have only escalated here.

again, listen to people in minnesota about this. it was all non-minnesotans who celebrated bovino, and meanwhile nothing's changed on the ground here.

please dear god just listen instead of rushing to speak. theyre coming for you next.
dont let a few ICE agents leaving mn fool you. nothing on the ground has changed yet. this is a way for them to distract and give a scapegoat so the rest of the world will turn a blind eye.

organize.

if you need resources, you can reach out to me. i can send them. but you have to organize. voting isnt enough. it just isnt. no politician can fix this.
Wow. San Francisco right now (Fri Jan 30, 2026).

Tens of thousands on the streets supporting a national strike and economic shutdown.

A huge anti-ICE, anti-Trump message being sent from the city.
