My post was not promotional or marketing but a commentary to my followers (particularly the fellow writers) on the nature of writing books for a living. The specific book is called The Cost of Trust, it’s about the surgeon Ian Paterson and the campaigner Deborah Douglas.

In general there’s no ‘UK’ law, there’s England and Wales together, Northern Ireland, and Scotland, separate legal jurisdictions, but fair use (properly called fair dealing) here is one of the cases where it’s same for all. It is much stricter than the US. But in both you still need to go to court.

Depends on how much they use. There is no blanket fair use, it’s case by case, so James would have to sue them and proved they used more of his work than is reasonable for commentary or opinion.
