Why is this not front-page news? Where is the outrage and alarm?

Heads up!
I spoke to @npr.org about USDA’s illegal demand for sensitive data about millions of food stamp recipients.

It’s the kind of request you make if you’re trying to feed a massive surveillance program, not if you’re trying to feed hungry kids.

Every state should sue, and refuse to comply. 👇👇

I’m reading For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Politics. It’s excellent. The contributions these women have made to the advancement of Black people and politics is tremendous.

If DOGE is a federal agency, it can’t shield its records from the public.

If it’s not an agency, then its tens of millions of dollars in funding weren’t legally allocated and should be returned, some contend.
DOGE’s Millions: As Musk and Trump Gut Government, Their Ax-Cutting Agency Gets Cash Infusion
The Department of Government Efficiency is funded — and acts — like a federal agency. But the White House has shielded DOGE from the rules that govern such agencies, ProPublica found as it examines…

DOGE recommended firing workers at:

-FDA, which oversees Neuralink

-FAA, which oversees SpaceX

-USAID, which probed Starlink

-CFPB, which oversees Tesla's financing arm and a potential payment platform on X.

"Conflict of interest" is a severe understatement.

Correct. If the birthdate field contains corrupt or mismatched data, it defaults to 1875-05-20, which serves as a flag. May 20, 1875, is the day the international standards and metrics treaty was signed. Everything is a conspiracy when you don’t know how anything works.

This appears to be yet another Administration effort to weaponize the power of the FCC.

The FCC has no business intimidating and silencing broadcast media.

They have no idea what they are doing beyond petulant destruction. They are literally just testing the system to see how far they can go before they meet some resistance. And clearly they can go pretty far.
the order said “all.” not “limited.” they’re backpedaling now because people are furious. if they walk this whole thing back because the reporting caused a shitstorm they weren’t prepared for, you can thank marisakabas.bsky.social - who broke the story first - by subscribing here. I just did.
