There are at least $60b in Pentagon cuts available.

The Quincy Institute identified cuts to dysfunctional/unnecessary weapons, process changes to increase spending discipline, and reductions to bureaucracy/private contract employees & excess basing infrastructure.

The Pentagon must be held to the same high standards as the rest of the government. Its budget dwarfs the budgets of the agencies under the most scrutiny (USAID, anyone?) and, as Rep. McGovern points out, it has been held to much lower standards.

This isn't good for fiscal or national security.

There is clearly waste, fraud, and abuse at the Pentagon. A recent article calls out egregious cases - $1,300 coffee cups & $8,000 overpay for soap dispensers. The Pentagon has also failed seven audits in a row - imagine if your small business did that.

President Donald Trump’s expert cost-cutters in Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency will next target the Pentagon's defense budget – a move that could be unpopular with Republicans.

Hey Evan! We were in some advocacy space together awhile ago, I forget which, and since then I've appreciated your takes on KOSA, etc on X. I learn a lot & get a different perspective from your work - glad to be able to follow you here, as well.
