If you’re curious about the history of North Korean cinema, a YouTuber based in Japan tracked down every DPRK film that’s still in existence and assembled a mind boggling five-hour documentary that is both a general history of the DPRK and a virtual film class.

No better way to celebrate Noël Coward's birthday (1899) than to introduce yourself to this delightful live recording of his 1955 one-man show in Las Vegas (never mind that cringeworthy "at"). It's a gem.

"Do They Know It's Christmas" is the most patronising, racist godawful song ever written and Fuse ODG's call to have the BBC drop a release of a doco "celebrating it" is spot on. (Notably The Guardian needs a famous white man to anchor the story which has been generated by a Ghanian-UK muso.)

Jacqueline Marval, another neglected or forgotten woman. A towering visionary artist, who passed in 1932. Her work is breathtaking.

Perhaps it was her tremendously famous namesake or her shy, quiet village life but Elizabeth Taylor has been forgotten. Well, as I make my way through all her novels, I can confidently say she was one of the greatest British authors ever. Her observations and phrasing are sublime.
