Today was also a well-deserved celebration for Craig Dellimore. He’s officially retired after 40+ years on the airwaves.

A resolution was read in his honor, and the city named the radio side of the press corps office after him. I’m so appreciative of his work and generosity.

Happening now: Mayor Brandon Johnson is hosting a presser ahead of today’s snap curfew vote. Johnson vetoed the snap curfew after the City Council approved it last month.

Just in: Chicago City Council members voted 27-22 to allow the CPD superintendent to call a curfew with a 30-minute notice.

However, there aren't enough "yes" votes to prevent Mayor Brandon Johnson from vetoing it. Johnson used his veto power last year against a ShotSpotter ordinance.

Today, about 100 faith and civil rights leaders gathered outside the Target in the Loop to demand that the company recommit to its DEI practices.

There’s been a national boycott of Target since January, and it has been called one of the most significant boycotts since the Montgomery bus boycott.

The local National Lawyers Guild just shared a statement following yesterday's protest. They described the police response as "violent and aggressive."

The group provided support for the 17 people who were arrested. Two are in police custody awaiting charges, but others were released.

Today's public safety committee meeting isn't happening after all. Alders were expected to vote on a revised youth curfew ordinance. Ald. Brian Hopkins, called off the meeting because Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky is expected to make a big announcement this afternoon.

Just in — Cook County Judge Carol Howard just ruled to overturn Tyrece Williams’ murder conviction.

He’s now the 50th person to have their conviction overturned in a case tied to ex-CPD Det. Reynaldo Guevara.

After the hearing, Williams told reporters that he was happy to have his name back.
