My grandfather made my dad learn to type, and my dad made me. I had one job 1981-1983 where there was a secretarial pool, but none since.

Embracing change isn't easy, but seeing changes coming isn't hard.
Someone needs to remind the CEO that at one point there were more than 2m secretaries. There were also separate employees to do in office dictation.

They were the original white collar displacements.

New companies with new jobs will come from AI and increase TOTAL employment.
AI Executive Declares People 'Should be Worried' About Losing Jobs to AI: Government Needs to 'Stop Sugar-Coating' It. "We... Have a Duty and an Obligation to be Honest About What is Coming," the CEO of Anthropic Said.

Smart Oklahoma manufacturers have accepted that the State of Oklahoma & Dept. of Education won't solve their workforce shortage for them - they've got to aggressively compete for workers, even before they graduate from high school. Non-paywalled article here:

In Trump's first 100 days, he alienated us from our allies, crashed the stock market, decimated U.S. cancer research, expelled American toddlers, lost the Canadian election by proxy, and threatened your Social Security checks.

But at least he focused on the important stuff.

This was supposed to be a bacon cheeseburger, but @sonic forgot the burger. As @stevelackmeyer.bsky.social says no company has ever been made better after being purchased by private equity. And when I asked for a refund, they couldn’t figure out how much I paid, plus tip. I simply walked away.

For @glaucomflecken.bsky.social The FTC is suing 3 PBMs over inflated prices. Two commissioners must recuse themselves because they are Trump appointees. Trump just fired the other two, so the lawsuit is now on hold. Today’s WSJ, page A2.

Another one of Trump’s “spiritual advisors” is in trouble for molesting a child. This makes Ryan Walters’ desire to make Trump-endorsed bibles available to school children even creepier.

What's the latest in the impending doom of layoffs at Tinker? Anybody keeping score?
I'll go ahead and say that the "This Is Topeka" article announcing 600 layoffs at Tinker AFB this morning has credibility issues. We're working to verify the claims as we continue to report on the mass firings, but here are some reasons to scrutinize the story before reposting it as truth:

For @stevelackmeyer.bsky.social Are OKC multi-family residential developers talking about the need for senior housing, particularly in walkable areas? High interest rates & new construction costs have many renovating instead of building new. This from today's WSJ: www.wsj.com/economy/hous...
Aging Boomers Are About to Rekindle the Senior-Housing Market
The oldest baby boomers turn 80 in less than a year, and the senior housing market is moving from glut to shortage.

My BlueSky feed runneth over with posts about Musk & Zuckerberg, so I've muted those two names. They love seeing themselves in the news, and others obviously enjoy spreading their news (engagement, outrage, emoting, whatever), but I'm frankly bored with it all. Glad this muting option exists.
