No, not charging on Substack, I’m “post-economic”.
Congratulations to Crystal Palace, and a reminder to us all, by the way Manchester City fell off a cliff after Haaland said it, of the importance of always staying humble.

“He wanted to know life. He did not wish to hide from it. He wondered if the pain that would inevitably flow was somehow as necessary to him as the joy it might bring” ~ Richard Flanagan, Question 7

Sometimes words strike me with such power the impact feels almost physical.

Wondrous book

Monday morning and looked outside my office window. Happily my office is in my home.

So, @ianrankin1.bsky.social ... did you know you were number one most gifted for "Financial Retirement Planning"? Is that a wee plot spoiler?

I’ve always maintained my writing on my own site (reposted to LI and Medium but hosted myself)

Never promoted it or tried to seek engagement.

Stopped writing at the end of 2023. Interesting to see what happened to visitors and readership in 2024. Hmm.

My brother died 7 weeks ago. Today I read this in Richard Flanagan’s “Question 7”.

His final days were imbued with grace and serenity. Flanagan says it better than I could, a reminder of the power of the art of writing. 🙏🏼

Love it.

Was in Uig while a wild storm went through early April this year. Views are always stunning on the island.

Just collected my 2011 987.2 2.9 PDK.

Low mileage and still ridiculously reasonable.

Couldn’t drive fast as weather was cold so risked ice issues if I did.

Even so…bliss.

In personal news, I’ve just taken delivery of what one of my five sons has already called my “sixth kid”. Am a happy boy. #CarpeFDiem #Porsche

Response from family in Cayman?

“They lost or wha?”

Tending my tiny lawn in my little house. My Caymanian son: “so you are definitely settling in to living in the U.K. then”.

I joined last year when a few folk at Kilkenomics were looking to shift over here (and when you needed an invite).

For some time there was very little activity, but I now see it building, and with some substance. Let's hope it keeps growing!
