As a designer, a thing that happens a lot when you present a variety of options for a project, is whoever you are presenting it to requests/suggests combining elements from different directions to create a new route. It's kind of frustrating, but also feels somewhat inevitable.

If Bluesky is an echo chamber so be it. I’ve tried dipping my toe into right wing news channels and left no more illuminated, and just more convinced of their fundamental unreason.

Just had an email suggesting dates for a 'personal' departmental weekend get-together at some point this Summer.

Is there a long German word for ‘trying to appear busy at work when you don’t really have much to do’ because it not I feel there should be one.

An art director I once worked worked for confided in me once that she thought a big part of being a 'good' designer wasn't technical skills, or even ideas necessarily, so much as 'taste', and I think about that often.

At work. Gone for a walk at lunchtime in the glorious sun and fantasising about just carrying on walking until I eventually hit a beer garden.

One of the things about being 'a designer' is constantly being asked to do things that you instinctively know won't work – but being obliged to go on some kind of journey to demonstrate this.

Something that I find quite infuriating (though I'm not sure is unique to our current social media hellscape) is the tendency for people to think that something that runs contrary to something they dislike, is therefore truthful or good.

“Can we just try…” must be one of the most familiar phrases in the design briefing lexicon, along with “make the logo bigger” of course.

Got an Uber to work today rather than driving and the driver was playing some mellow jazz… so much more relaxing a start than the Radio 4 roundup of current affairs insanity.

Noticed yesterday that the question keystroke on Zapf Dingbats is a crucifix so that's food for thought isn't it.

I guess the problem with The Cock is he’s kind of communicated with his base with memes forever and they’ve loved it, and now is ‘policies’ are memes, and they still seem to love it 🤷‍♂️
