Here’s to the companies that get fantastic employee engagement results by tying those results to individual bonuses 👏👏👏😒

I’d love to see the Aussie govt say:
“The US openly admits we bear the cost of its tariffs — it’s unreasonable to then demand we also boost our defence spending.”

US demands Australia lifts defence spending by $40b a year 'as soon as possible'
The United States wants Australia to lift spending on defence to about $100 billion a year, with its Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warning of a "real and potentially imminent" threat from China.

Developers will spend 3 hours coaxing an LLM to write 10 lines of code—just to avoid a 2-minute conversation with a teammate.

Collaboration, but make it antisocial.

You know how sometimes you have a shower after the gym, but it just doesn’t take—like, you’re clean but still end up sweaty five minutes later?

Yeah, I just had lunch like that. Ate, but somehow still hungry. Is it too early for second lunch?

The company I work for sends out a weekly intelligence briefing that is actually quite interesting.
- crypto kidnappings
- protests likely in Wellington
- transmitters found in Chinese manufactured energy equipment
And more

I bet they actually said something like “we’ll give it the consideration it’s due”
Narrator: they were not considering the offer

It feels like most tech folks are on LinkedIn these days? Or otherwise just gone AWOL?

Checked in on X, dead.

I love BlueSky for the calm pool of sanity that it is, but I wish more tech folks were active here.

It’s definitely not because America is a deeply racist and sexist nation. Definitely not. Everything bad the Republicans are doing is the fault of the Democrats and the Democrats that didn’t vote.
This is a must-read article for all who care about the Democratic Party. If Biden voters had not stayed home, we would have won.

The bottom line?

“They’re deeply disappointed with the Democratic Party. They’re skeptical of government. They’re skeptical of politics in general —

want a bank run? this is how you get a bank run.
BREAKING — DOGE will descend upon Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) buildings tomorrow, an agency source tells me.

FDIC is responsible for insuring all commercial/personal US bank accounts for up to $250k and regulating banks. Scary in light of Trump’s manipulation of markets this week.

I'm starting to think that teenagers take silly risks because we haven't taught them how to do proper risk assessments (factoring both likelihood and impact).

If they perceive the likelihood as low, they treat the risk as low, even if the impact is very high.

There's something telling me that the correct response to Trumps tarrifs, is export tarrifs of the same amount. Then use the funds raised as an export subsidy for everyone else.

Just so I can put the US 10% tarrifs on Aussie imports into the right context inmy own head, is it just the same as if the Aussie dollar was trading at $0.693 US dollars instead of $0.63 US dollars, or is there more to it than that?
