Well, at least we have something to replace "why didn't they hand the ball to Marshawn?" #Seattle #SeattleMariners

No clue why Woo came in to pitch the 7th. No clue why they didn't walk Springer. That was like not walking Pujols against Houston.

This Fox announcer is even more excitable than Dick Fain and that is saying a lot.

Kudos to that Phoenix usher or security guard who caught A’ja Wilson before she fell. it was a bad spot and she could have hurt herself.

The ESPN camera did not pivot quickly enough to show the entire interaction. It is possible that he made contact before the camera moved. But as a female if a guy got in my space that badly that I had to lean back, I would have tossed him if I could too. No coach or player should be allowed that.

Remember this? Still no sign of those All-Defensive teams, but today is also when that schedule says we were meant to get the All-WNBA teams. Getting kinda late, even on the East Coast. Have to wonder what the hell is going on. Why give us a schedule if you're then going to ignore it? #WNBA
Unless I missed it, the league seems to have skipped/postponed a couple of scheduled award announcements. Did somebody decide it might've been a little awkward to announce Napheesa Collier on an All-Defensive team on Wednesday? #WNBA

I had a darn clear view. At least two of the fouls A’ja got were phantoms. I usually don’t complain about refs but these were awful.

I have bucket list items that involve flying places and I know that messes with the carbon footprint too. But if I had the money and the health, this would be the thing that took up the entire bucket. So I'm not going to diss someone else for doing what I would do myself.

"My question is, have y’all been to space? Go to space or go to Blue Origin and see what they do and then come back and say, ‘This is a terrible thing.'"

I’m frankly pissed off at the Seattle coaching staff for barely playing Nika Muhl last year because the injury will prevent her from playing this year. I’m sick of watching old vets play and want more youth on my teams. Old vets play slowly and deliberately and wear down near the end of games.

Luka is about to have a teammate who has bought into taking care of his body and mind. I fully expect Luka to change his entire attitude as a result of that mentoring. If he still doesn't, then Dallas was right. But, I think in the long-term he will be MVP and Dallas will get mocked for the trade.
February 3, 2025 at 8:16 PM
It sounds like Dallas felt Luka would never get serious about his health and was not worth the huge payday he was about to get. They wanted to get a win-now person instead to hopefully get back to the championship immediately. Short-term gain over long-term promise.

I would not want to be on a descending flight that was expected to pass 200 feet over a helicopter. Perhaps that is normally done but I'd still be concerned to see it. As we just saw, it's just too easy to have human error.
January 31, 2025 at 11:50 PM
So it seems like the helicopter was too high (350 ft. instead of <200 ft.). Probably focused on the wrong incoming plane. While it doesn't sound like ATC's fault, I suspect that there will be some new guidelines to their operations since they are the last line of defense to avoid recurrence.
January 31, 2025 at 11:46 PM
No matter whose "fault" it is, the important thing now is to learn from it and change what they can to prevent it in the future. And I'm aware that I don't have any more than a layman's understanding anyway so I will wait for the experts to do their analysis.
January 30, 2025 at 10:18 PM
While the midair collision does not sound like it was ATC's fault (and certainly not DEI), I suspect the way there will be a change in how they verify that one airplane sees another. Also, perhaps some different height requirements for helicopters in the area. My condolences to all.

I doubt gun control would have solved this latest shooting so let's not go there. Instead, it's the other issue that we have about mental health not being properly managed. We see this in other countries too as knife wielders or people in cars commit mass murders. It's a world problem.

Out of all the ways to have that game end, Edwards dropping a sure-fire 2 point try was simply stunning. Bills get to try once again to slay the Kansas City dragon. Eagles get to host the Commanders. Now I turn to Ohio State-Notre Dame.

I had an idea of what Unrivaled basketball could be and it's more than lived up to it. It didn't even take a quarter to become a fan of the format. It will take them time to figure out good set plays but the play is faster, there's more room, and there's less contact.

I can't tell what's real or misinformation with regard to the LA fires. But really, I'd like to stop hearing about all of it and focus on the actual crisis. The leadership shouldn't have to answer anything except what their constituents need to know right now to survive and recover.

At least Alabama lost its bowl game which shut up all the folks insisting they were more worthy than any of the teams that made it. I knew Oregon was overrated and lucky to be unbeaten and OSU proved it. I expect them to beat Texas tonight but we'll still have to wait 10 days for the championship!
January 10, 2025 at 11:01 PM
I missed the Notre Dame/Penn State game last night which was finally a worthy game. This whole playoff system is ridiculous. I would have done 8 teams with the quarters Christmas week and the semis on New Year's Day. No matter how many teams you choose, they'll insist someone got snubbed anyway.
January 10, 2025 at 10:50 PM
Yes, if the ball is over the fence you can catch it before the player does. If they'd done that, they would have been heroes. I'm sure there was a lot of liquor involved to make them think that ripping the ball out of a glove was acceptable and would nullify the catch. Good riddance.
