As a page designer on @stltoday.com's night crew for most of my career, the closure of our press and the loss of so many local skilled jobs is terribly sad.

Hannah Wyman and Zachary Linhares did a wonderful job telling the stories of the pressmen and machinists thru words and visuals.

On Sunday night, press workers at the Maryland Heights printing plant wiped down machines and posed for photos as trucks carrying Monday's paper headed out into the snow.

Here's the Copilot version:

We've entered the chatbot era. Take a moment to chat with Copilot, ChatGPT, or the latest chatbot to get a better grasp on them when you hear about chatbots.

We've come into the age of chat bots, both customized and open ones.

I recommend taking time, interest or no, to attempt some chats with copilot or chatgpt or whichever the flavor of the day chatbot is. This will give you a small idea understanding when you're reading or hearing about bots.

in #stl that's: Left Bank Books, Dunaway Books, The Novel Neighbor, Subterranean Books, Read a Book STL, Spine Indie Bookstore, Leviathan Bookstore, the Book House, the kids' bookstores Eye See Me and Little Readers, and (most recently!) the cookbook shop Anchovy Book Co
Here's your daily reminder that bookstores keep the love of reading alive — but they also keep neighborhoods beautiful. They are places to gather, to celebrate stories, to find community.

Please do your holiday shopping at your local independent bookstore, if you are lucky enough to still have one.

It's time to wind down and sleep. Tomorrow is a full work week before the holiday.

The sense of impending doom is subdued for now.
