oh absolutely, there's no "Things didn't work as intended" scenario that is going to be easy for someone who doesn't know what they're doing. i also feel like microsoft increasingly is just throwing weird shit at me that i don't want, and being able to sidestep it entirely is very nice

i feel like the range of instances where installing linux works fine without any weirdness has dramatically expanded, but as always it's when something doesn't work that things get annoying and more out of reach for someone less fluent in computers

i dunno, i swapped a laptop to mint linux recently and it was immediately usable with no real friction, which historically has not been my experience of putting linux on random laptops. i was able to do everything i wanted to do without even having to open a terminal, which is wild

some of the early games people made around prompt injection were all very susceptible to absurd argumentative nonsense and it felt very funny to badger the computer with my weird thoughts until it was like okay here's the information i am not supposed to reveal under any circumstances

Yessssss, I haven't seen that in like 15 years

yeah like overall i'd rather not know about any of these people or their tedious bullshit, but i appreciated him wading into it to be like hey, i just wanted to clarify some things in a way that makes it seem like i don't understand why people are talking about my past involvement in this situation

this is a better bit than not understanding libraries because if it goes wide enough, you'll get reasonably successful authors telling you about how they have to have a full time job because of how little money the overwhelming majority of authors make from writing

i'm starting to worry that these are your earnest thoughts, but that does make all of this a lot funnier
November 16, 2025 at 4:47 AM
honestly, "guy who fundamentally doesn't understand what a library" is an okay bit because people will try to explain it to you and you can just keep extrapolating what they say into something silly

and this was largely the argument surrounding the creation of public education in the first place: is it a liberal arts vehicle for creating educated people or is it quasi-vocational training to prepare poor/immigrant children for the behavioral expectations of factory jobs.
