“The NYT editors are actively competing with a white supremacist and key republican strategist for their news cycle” is a good summary of where things are for the national media ecosystem
Update: NY Times did not want to be scooped by Chris Rufo, chose to cut out the middle man.

The GOP aims to kill green energy, but it's their constituents who will lose.

Red-state voters “will be losing out on jobs that they would have been getting otherwise, but they might not know that.”
Senate version of "beautiful" bill will "kill" America's clean energy sector, experts say
New taxes on wind and solar are "truly bizarre, a self-defeating measure."

The U.S. Citizenship Police (ICE) will have the same share of the budget as the U.S. Army and more than 3X that of the Marine Corps.

I would like to once again remind all suburbanites, Republicans, and all those outside the tri-state area that the NYC you see on Fox News is no more real than, like, Narnia, or Atlantis.

The idea that we can "easily" overthrow the regime in Iran is a fantasy of people that have never served. Afghanistan is back in the hands of the Taliban after 20 years of slaughter. Iraq still isn't peaceful. Libya is a war zone that's been in civil war since we dropped bombs. History is screaming!

We said if Trump was elected he would:
1. Let Israel do its worst on everyone
2. Abandon Ukraine, let Putin do his worst
3. Massively round up migrants for mass deportation
4. Impose tariffs that would wreck economy
5. Destroy fed govt
6. Try to end civil liberties
7. Retaliate

So…7 for 7!

what people seem to believe is that there is a large number of criminal, layabout immigrants who can be easily found and deported. they support doing so snd are dismayed by the deportation of otherwise law abiding people. the problem is that the criminal group is imaginary!
Wow. New CBS poll finds majority (55%) supports the *general goal* of deportations, but a bigger majority (56%) dislikes how Trump is carrying them out. And 63% want due process.

Again, we need a better discourse around public opinion on immigration, as I've argued:

People don't like the snark from @mattyglesias.bsky.social on here, but he makes some very good points. Just one example:

"Of all the cruel and unjustifiable moves the Trump administration has made on immigration, this is one of the worst: The government is ending deportation protections for people who assisted US troops in Afghanistan. It’s a broken promise of the vilest kind," writes the Times Union Editorial Board.
Editorial: America's broken promises
Ending deportation protections for those who helped U.S. troops in Afghanistan is a national shame.

So after learning from the tariff debates that the MAGA right thinks imports are bad, we're now seeing from the foreign students debate that they also think exports are bad — it's a really stupid vision of the country that will make everyone poor.

Cato has published my comprehensive review of the ~240 Venezuelans the US government renditioned 2 months ago to Salvador’s notorious prison. We identified FIFTY who came legally, never violated any immigration law, but are imprisoned at the US government’s request and at US taxpayer expense.
