“It’s the economy, stupid.
Change vs. more of the same.
Don’t forget health care.”

The right message in 1992. The right message today.

I really do miss the era of Rather, Brokaw, and Jennings during which I grew up. We were better informed. They were better reporters. Russert, Brinkley, Shieffer: the Sunday News shows meant something.

Watch the film “Network.” It was like a crystal ball into the news media of today.

I live in North Dakota. The shot in the arm one gets from the first day each year the temperature rises above 40F is quite lovely.

There is no use for White House press briefings anymore save for sound bite grandstanding. This is not a new development.

Mitch McConnell reminds me of my one elementary school teacher who was really mean when I was a kid then turned nice in older age presumably to smooth their odds of getting into heaven.

The sooner EM and co. fall out of the president’s favor the better. Even the great and powerful EM eventually offers diminishing returns.

We mustn’t fool ourselves, the president’s actions and agenda are broadly popular in the country right now, and any successful opposition must start from this fact. “They’re all idiots” may be a satisfying brush off, and in some cases, true, but it also ultimately of limited utility.

When even the National Socialists worry you’re a little too eager …
Christ EVERYBODY wants to work for Andreessen Horowitz these days

I don’t mind rocking the damn boat, but have always tried to remember to check first if the boat needs to be rocked.

To Democrats in Congress I’d offer this: less posting on the interweb and sending fundraising texts and yapping and more doing something substantive.

Then do something, Senator.
Shuttering the agency responsible for international assistance.

Turning the government over to wealthy oligarchs motivated by economic self-interest.

Telling all CIA officers they will be paid if they quit.

China and Russia are winning so much they are getting tired of winning.

Wish I knew somebody who was in one of the two halls of Congress right now.
Congress must take action to restore the rule of law.

We will see what happens but the whole “GOP voters will learn their lesson the hard way thing” is cutting against a media environment, including the right wing one, that primes its viewers to blame someone or some thing else

I grew up just a few miles south of Canada. I live an hour away now. Been there many times. Canada is a great country, and a true friend of the US.

Most overused word of the #Grammys carpet: “manifest,” used as a verb.

E.g. “let’s manifest, bruh!”

Nights like this I miss Joan Rivers reigning over the red carpet to ask “who the fuck are these people?” #Grammys

Hillary Clinton couldn’t pass the purity tests. Nor could Biden or Harris. The Democratic Party destroyed itself from within bc too many made the perfect the enemy of the good. How can anyone be surprised whats’s followed the inauguration? But, you really showed ‘em with your votes for Jill Stein.

I don’t know who’ll even see this, but here’s some things in which I’m interested:

Books (reading histories at present)
Films (funny, scary, action, docs.)
80s pop music
Travel (when a beach is involved)
Public policy (see above: scary)
Ice cream.

Hello.

I think there’s value in thinking that things will be alright.
