car dependency is sneakly a top cause of the obesity epidemic imo
If you are lucky enough to live in a walkable place, and you then walk with someone who doesn't...it can be really shocking to see how unaccustomed they are to it and how little stamina they have for this primal human activity.
Automobile dependence erodes public health in many ways: blunt force trauma (#1 cause for children and young adults), air pollution (CVD, asthma), noise pollution (QoL, dementia) but perhaps the most pernicious is that it has almost completely displaced walking. www.sciencedaily.com/releases/201...

Trump: Hannibal Lecter. He’s having a friend for dinner. Arnold Palmer had a huge schlong.

Press: Today at a packed rally in battleground Pennsylvania, former president trump outlined his commonsense proposals to secure the southern border
Donald Trump has lost nearly 10% of voters—almost 20% of his support—since his election last year. He’s done so largely because he’s pursued the policies he ran on, and most people hate them.

Who is at fault for voters not understanding what he ran on? I’d say the press is largely culpable.

Truly hilarious. Insofar as trump had any coherent campaign platform it was to do tariffs

Finally, a good Trump policy. #taxallcars #banallcars
Trump: "What we're gonna be doing is a 25 percent tariffs on all cars that are not made in the United States."

Here’s a question I have @chrislhayes.bsky.social. Why is american political influence so *undervalued*? Musk spent ~$300M on 2024 election. Less than $1 billion! For control of the free world!

Crypto scammers have bought off the entire Republican party and a huge chunk of the Dems. Honestly "in bed with crypto" vs "not in bed with crypto" is as important a split in the Dem caucus now as moderate vs progressive is.
Crypto is poised to secure major legislative wins after years of frustration. Kirsten Gillibrand, the newly minted Senate Dem campaign chair, is a big reason why.
"Without her, it doesn't happen," said longtime partner Cynthia Lummis.

Americans will go on vacation to a place that isn’t a car sewer, walk and take public transit for 8-12 hrs. a day, notice a change in their health, and attribute it to “they must not have the Illuminati chemicals here”
Ainsley Earhardt makes a case for RFK Jr: "When you go to Europe, the food is delicious. It's so fresh. And you don't gain weight if you eat a big bowl of pasta. So we want that to come here to America."
