This is precisely what I live for.

I have been a lot of different people in my life, but I'm southern at heart, so when I need deep comfort food, it's soul food. Spicy baked catfish, ham hock collard greens, and broccoli with cheese sauce. The greens I had in the pot all afternoon. They are amazing.

Boiled some field peas with some ham tonight and my 2 year has just been chugging the pot likker and slamming his cup down acting like it’s the best thing he’s ever drank. He’s the countriest baby I’ve ever met.

Shrimp gravy on grits from Emily Meggett’s #cookbook, “Gullah Geechee Home Cooking.” Probably the best thing I’ve made out of her book.

My Grandmother Gets Asked For Her Pimiento Cheese Recipe All The Time, And This Is Her Secret Ingredient

Apparently the disdain that Texans have for beans in #chili is rooted in severely outdated racist stereotypes. Mm mm mm.

I know this might be controversial, but I put peas in my #macandcheese. Please don’t come after me.

My toddler has begun calling #chicken chup bird (ketchup bird) and I feel like that’s the most accurate name for a chicken.
