Trader Joe’s is selling Harry and David pears. My grandma used to send them to me every year and they were the most expensive pears ever but also so delicious.

I was working at Book Court in Brooklyn when A SICK DAY FOR AMOS MCGEE came out. It’s still one of my favorite children’s books.

So I am thrilled that the authors now have A SNOW DAY FOR AMOS MCGEE!

Consider it for the picture book readers in your life.

Just told my friend (truthfully!) I needed to push back our coworking session because my beans need more time on the stove.

I have been bean-pilled.

Went to the Portland zine symposium today and got the BEST haul. It was my first time there and the energy was so warm and playful. I loved everyone I met.

The Washington Post editorial board articles about Mamdani are actually disgusting. It’s hard to surprise me but my jaw dropped when they referred to him as “generalissimo” in the first paragraph.

Spotted towhees are one of my favorites. I find they’re usually quite shy so I was impressed this one stuck around long enough for me to film them.

Found this cute post-it in the middle of my library copy of THE BOOK OF ALCHEMY. I hope Bug had a good night’s sleep wherever they are.

I have no children but the picture book area of my bookshelf is one of my favorite places. I’m so in love with the form.

Beautiful short stories and pictures? What’s not to like!

I guess it’s “all necessary troops” which may or may not include NG. With an authorization to use full force if necessary.

Excuse me but I am reading the new Dan Brown book THE SECRET OF SECRETS and Robert Langdon quotes “the opening line to one of his favorite novels”

and the quote is from DIGITAL FORTRESS BY DAN BROWN.

This is too funny. I love it. #booksky

THE SALT STONES is one of my favorite books of 2025.

Helen Whybrow writes so exquisitely about her sheep, the land, and our connections to and responsibility for living things.

Getting to read this felt like an honor. If you love nature or pastoral writing, this one’s for you. #booksky #nature

Found a green heron fledgling in a parking lot!

These are cryptic little guys and it was an exciting first to see one.

I gently walked him away from the very busy nearby road, back toward the river and wished him luck.

What felt at first like it could have been a Portlandia sketch was actually deeply moving to witness in person. People lay under the tree, drew the tree, added memories to the guest book, or just had a conversation about it.

A year ago I saw a news article about a Portland couple whose heritage oak tree was dying and had to be cut down. They were hosting a memorial so the community to come say goodbye to it.
