Athens, GA by way of Maryland. Terrible at profile descriptions and coming up with pub trivia team names. Great at projecting stats for the Shire-wide softball league.

G. Gordon Liddy cut me off while
I was driving home on I-95
I stood in line getting popcorn in Westwood to see “She’s So Lovely” behind Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman on the day Princess Diana died.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

I HAVE to be the first person to ever see this product, yes? Otherwise, I feel like we should all have been talking about this long ago and a LOT more.

Anyway, America is doomed.

As a fan of the Orioles in good standing, I’m filing a complaint tonight against Mike Elias for breach of fiduciary duty in the Baltimore City District Court.

Requested relief: literally any starting pitcher and a lineup that can manage to get one player on base against a left hander
#Orioles have gone 15 up, 15 down vs. Carlos Rodón.

Yankees lead 12-0 heading to the 6th inning.

Man, this sucks. I grew up with the Washington Post - always wanted to go down the driveway to bring it in, but my Dad would practically take it from the driver’s hands at 4:30am each morning.

Any recommendations on how to support the writers - I’m all ears.

Todays Alps (“Broken”) Kroger (Athens, GA) observation: why does everyone refuse to use the single, loose carts that shoppers have returned at the entrance in favor of wrestling with the jammed up stack of carts returned by staff? They’re all germy as hell so save time and grab the free ones. Thanks

Hey, credit where it’s due, I was calling out Taqueria del Closed for their hours WAY before it was hip.

Great article appreciating R.E.M. The band members made wonderful music, but there are lots of lessons from the way they went about their business that made them great.
Opinion | The band that taught Gen X it’s better to fade away than to burn out
Michael Stipe just turned 65. It’s the end of R.E.M. as we know it (and I feel fine).

If I had one wish this Christmas season, it would be to ban comedies from using the “if you’re a cop you have to tell us” gag. (and also for all the children of the world to hold hands and sing)

(Foxworthy voice) IFFF your neighbor has chunky white Xmas lights in an orderly fashion around the edges of their roof….they miiight be a Trump voter

(apologies to all progressive Athens friends that have chunky white lights on their roooftops)

Let’s all give it up for @clem1978.bsky.social who has to be one of the few UGA fans that got to sleep at 2:30am last night (after staying, till the end, of course) and then mustered the energy to go to Stegeman to watch the Dawgs tonight against Jacksonville. She deserves a statue

I played a game when I was a kid I’d pretend to be two different teams, throw a football up and out into the air, run and try to catch it. Get to a certain point in my yard and it was a TD. (I was a lonely kid).

My offense in those solitaire games was more explosive than Michigan and Ohio St.

Taking nominations for most rage-inducing roadways in Athens.

Current leader in the clubhouse: “any intersection that includes any combination of the words ‘Epps’ and ‘Bridge’” (please note: any Epps Bridge intersections in Oconee County are ineligible for this Athens-only contest)

My 2026 Athens mayoral campaign will rest solely on the "immediate incarceration for anyone that backs into parking spaces at the Alps Kroger" platform.

The “failed Philly relievers to Baltimore” pipeline flowing strong as ever!
RHP Robinson Martínez, 26, pitched in the Phillies' organization from 2015-19, then in the Marlins' organization from 2021-22. A reliever with 4.92 ERA in 133 Minor League appearances (7 starts).
#Orioles announce they have agreed to terms on a 2025 Minor League contract with RHP Robinson Martinez.

An excellent piece from the always excellent @williamfleitch.bsky.social Snyder broke me of my longtime Washington fandom - and fandom of the NFL entirely. But I'm finding my way back (easier when the team is this fun). Plus - following the NFL means more distractions! I need more! MORE!
November 14, 2024 at 3:48 PM
And for those looking for distractions these days - UGA basketball is legit, they will make the tournament and it’s time for our students to brush up on their basic understanding of the sport (no first downs, even less kicking)

Made a big announcement about moving over here - solicited some new followers - but please don't expect me to post anything worthwhile. Anyway, Cal Ripken would hit 27 homers out of the cleanup spot on the Hobbiton softball team hitting behind Ted Sandyman and Merry who are OBP machines.
