Is it “winner-takes all” when the simplest living things compete? Check out my fresh publication on phage coexistence in Science and a thread below🧵 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
Diverse phage communities are maintained stably on a clonal bacterial host
Bacteriophages are the most abundant and phylogenetically diverse biological entities on Earth, yet the ecological mechanisms that sustain this extraordinary diversity remain unclear. In this study, w...

The amount of research resources that have ALREADY gone into studying this spurious claim is enough to make a new(ish) PI weep.

Thread on a country that followed all (yes, all) 657,461 kids for >5 million kid-years of follow-up, & found slightly *less* autism among MMR recipients (not stat sig).
So here’s one of my favorite details about the very very very tiresome and thoroughly discredited vaccine-autism thing.

Not only has it been Looked Into it has been MAXIMALLY Looked Into. In fact, there is almost nowhere left to look.

In 2019, a study came out that was simply titanic…
President-elect Trump, who has promoted the debunked theory that vaccines cause autism for more than a decade, suggested on Sunday that he would have his choice for health secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., look into the issue.

In another round of good news 🎉, I am ✨thrilled✨ to receive a K08 from NIH-NIAMS. None of this would have been possible without the support of my mentor Bo Shopsin, NYU Derm, and collaborators from the Pironti, Schluter, Naik, Weiser, and Thorpe labs!

Honored to receive the Physician Scientist Career Development Award from the #DermatologyFoundation. Thank you to the DF for supporting scientists in dermatology and their investment in advancing the field. And many thanks to my mentors BoShopsin and DavidPolsky for their guidance and to NYUDerm!

My favorite story from the Staph GRC last summer, from Tamia Harris-Tyron's group, is now up on biorxiv.

Testosterone activates agr pathway (quorum sensing pathway that activates virulence factors) in S aureus!

Fascinating work on how bacterial chromosomal replication affects gene transcription using single-bacterium-RNA-sequencing . Check it out! 👇👇

Clinical research from residency now in print! 📖 Most data on tofacitinib comes from studies in rheum pts. We compared rheum vs derm pts taking tofacitinib and found derm pts had fewer co-morbidities and observed fewer adverse events in the derm cohort.
