the documented problem with the gaming audience is that they buy one AAA game, one live service game and a single indie game that goes viral every year. with the decimation of the press and the ballooning of game sizes the idea of a generalist gamer that tries new things is basically non-existent

there are lots of problems with the gaming audience, and much we can blame them for. they're creatively incurious, actively aggressive towards developers, and the entire medium has been captured by an insane culture war for over a decade. if anything they are too willing to spend 100 dollars

A samurai revenge plot where the MC learns over 80 hours of collecting trinkets, hunting bounties, and doing artsy side quests, that revenge isn't the end all be all? Just too predictable.

been playing it for the first time after having played FF1 (also for the first time) earlier this year. having a lot of fun! the gameplay is expansive and satisfying but it’s amazing to actually be invested in the story/lore and having jack always say “no lore please. i don’t care. kill chaos.”
