We talked about control-value theory today in Achievement Motivation, so we brought back this art activity (see thread below). @summerrobinson.bsky.social's "Yay! Motivation!" drawing took home the competitive prize, although @tjroyuh.bsky.social's doodled ghost was adorable. @aeratepsig.bsky.social

Return of Ben Heddy's Lego self-efficacy activity today in Achievement Motivation class! Students built a Lego set with 1) the box and the instructions, 2) just the box but no instructions, or 3) no box AND no instructions. @tjroyuh.bsky.social @summerrobinson.bsky.social @zachbaquet.bsky.social
You should all register for Ben's workshop! I used one of @benheddy.bsky.social's activities today in Achievement Motivation. There was tons of laughter and it was proclaimed "the best day ever." (1/5) @aeratepsig.bsky.social @aera-motsig.bsky.social

We had a great discussion about classroom barriers, safe classroom climates where we aren't afraid of making mistakes, emotions, and things that affect our outcome and efficacy expectations. Also, we all loved Summer's Lego cat! 🥰

My grading philosophy is that students should be evaluated on learning and growth, not on how well they do compared to other students. Constructive feedback, self-reflections, and student autonomy are more valuable than arbitrary points that cause stress and anxiety.
